Benjamin Petlock assumed the position of Counselor for Agriculture at the U.S. Embassy in Warsaw in July 2025. He most recently served as Senior Director for Asia-Pacific in the Trade and Geographic Policy Department of the Foreign Agricultural Service (FAS).
His most recent overseas assignment was as Senior Counselor for Agriculture at the FAS office in Ho Chi Minh City, where he was responsible for the southern Vietnamese and Cambodian markets. He also served as Counselor for Agriculture at the U.S. Embassies in Hanoi, Vietnam, and Tokyo, Japan.
Mr. Petlock joined FAS in 1997. After working in the Office of Capacity Building and Development and the Office of Country and Regional Affairs, he joined the FAS Foreign Agricultural Service in 2009.
Mr. Petlock holds a Master's degree in International Politics and Applied Practice from George Washington University in Washington, D.C. A native of Sarasota, Florida, he is married to Dr. Fae Frederick, a psychologist based in Washington, D.C.
