Marek Wigier

Director of Agricultural Markets and Quantitative Methods, Institute of Agricultural and Food Economics – National Research Institute (IAFE-NRI)

Marek Wigier holds a habilitation degree (Dr. habil.) in Social Sciences in the discipline of Economics and Finance. He is a Professor at the Institute of Agricultural and Food Economics – National Research Institute (IAFE-NRI). His research focuses on agricultural economics, with particular emphasis on the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP), international trade, agri-food markets, as well as market intervention and market failures. He received his Master's degree from the Warsaw School of Economics (SGH) and earned his habilitation degree at the Institute of Agricultural and Food Economics – National Research Institute (IAFE-NRI). He has been awarded research fellowships at the École Nationale Supérieure d’Agronomie (France), the European Institute of Public Administration (EIPA) (the Netherlands), the Histadrut International Institute for Labour Studies and International Cooperation (Israel), and the International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) (United States). He has led and participated in numerous national research projects (including those funded by the National Science Centre (NCN) and the National Centre for Research and Development (NCBR)), as well as international research projects (including EU-funded projects) and evaluation studies commissioned by both Polish public institutions, such as the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MRiRW), and international organizations. He has been professionally affiliated with the Institute of Agricultural and Food Economics – National Research Institute (IAFE-NRI) since 1994. He currently serves as Director of the Agricultural Markets and Quantitative Methods Division and Professor at the Institute.
